Is it okay to clean my nose piercing with just sea salt water?
I got my nose pierced 2 days ago, and my piercer told me to soak it in natural sea salt water. Will it heal just fine only cleaning it with that, or should I use something else? I’ve been instructed not to use alcohol, and peroxide and stuff cause I know that it does dry your nose out and affects the healing, so I wouldn’t know what to use.
Your piercer was 100% correct in advising you to use only sea salt soaks. Sea salt is a natural antiseptic, which means it doesn’t rely on harsh chemicals that will dry and irritate the delicate scar tissue that is forming when it draws impurities from the wound.
Make sure you are using only 1/8-1/4 teaspoon of non-iodized sea salt to one cup of warm filtered or distilled water. Do this twice a day and only when your hands are very clean. You will not need any other type of cleaning routine besides the sea salt soaks.
