Anyone ever train an off track standardbred to be a carriage horse?

I have an ottb that is a wonderful riding horse. I used to have driving ponies, but they came already trained. I have a friend who used to be a standardbred trainer and has turned many ex-harness racers into riding horses, but I don’t know of anyone who has used them for driving purposes. Anyone have any insights?

The Amish use them as driving horses. I would get a surcingle and start driving on the ground with all the voice commands. I then take the bridle with the blinders and let them just wear it to get accustom used to the bridle.
After they graduate those feats I put the harness and ground drive more and more. When I feel they are confident enough I place a skid attached to them and slowly add weight.
